We visited Sajjangad on 4th jan 2014. It is very pleasant and calm place. It is the final resting place of Sant Ramdas. The maintenance of the fort and the Samadhi (final resting place) of Ramdas is taken care by Ramdas Swami Sansthan, a trust which has existed since the time of Shri Ramdas Swami. 

             
        The daily routine of the trustees on the fort includes morning prayers, Abhishek and Puja, Maha Naivedya, Bhajans and reading of the manuscript Dasbodh written by Sant Ramdas. 









* Transport - 

* Get a bus for Satara from Thane (Vandana). Fare is Rs. 344 /-

* Have some breakfast near by bus stand and get fresh for next bus for Sajjangad.

* Catch a bus from Satara bus stand for Sajjangad. (Rs 18)

* Enjoy the pleasant atmosphere of gad. ( Advice - Switch-off your mobile)

* Get coupons for mahaprasad by 11am.

* You must  have mahaprasad at 12 noon. It is worth it. You will never forget. 


* Then come down to Satara.

* Trek to Karnala Fort :  -

 * "Karnala" is the one of the best option for 1 day trek. Karnala fort is a hill fort in Raigad district about 10 kms from Panvel city. I visited Karnala many a times.


* The hight of this fort is 1538 ft.


* The base village of the fort is Shirdhon.


* Thane to Karnala distance is around 45kms.




Schedule for Karnala Trek : -

* You should leave our home atleast by 6 or 6:30 in the morning.

* So you can reach by 8 or 8:30am.

* You can enjoy Karnala Bird Sanctuary And have a breakfast( if you have carried)

* Start actual trek by 9:30am

* The route of this trek passes through the jungle.

* You will reach at the top by 11:30 or 12:00pm

* Then you should Start descending by 2:00 or 2:30pm and back to base by 4:00pm

* So you can come back to Thane by 6:00 or 6:30pm



 Carry these things  for Karnala Trek  :-


* A water bottle to carry at least 2 liters of water per head.

*  Electral or Glucon-d  and personal medication.

*  Camera, Binocular (Optional).

*   First aid kit.

*  Don't carry heavy cash at the time of trekking.

For bike or car : -

* Major highways - NH3, NH4, NH17.

* Total trip approximately - 110 kms.

* Fare for bike - Around  200 Rs per bike ( average 55kms/ltr @ rate of petrol 79RS/ltr)

* RAJGAD - 'Royal Fort' of  Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj  *

We could have gone to Nasarapur an village on Route to Gunjavne.
Bus frequency to Nasarapur is good. You can catch the bus of Satara from Thane ( Vandana ) bus stand and get down at Nasrapur stop. Then you can share an auto till Gunjavne or enjoy the  walk till base climb if you have time.

There are four routes : -

1. Chor Darwaja through Gunjavne village (Rock Patch climbing - Medium)

2. Pali Darwaja - Through Vajeghar Gaon (Easy Route)

3. Gunjawane Darwaja - (Most difficult one) from Gunjavne village

4. Torna Darwaja - Used to visit to Torna or vice versa

Three Machi : -

1. Padmavati Machi - 

    There is an Mandir / Lake / Accomodation / Pali Darwaja / Chor Darwaja on this Machi.

    It gets very cold here please carry proper stuff for night trek. Water is good for portable 

    use only. Carry drinking water or purify lake water.

2. Sanjivani Machi - 

    From here one can head towards Torna it also has secret escape routes

3. Suvela Machi -

 I

         * When i stretched the hands, I felt that i am on the right path in achieving  something. 

    Gunjavne Darwaja is here. Longest arm of Rajgad and Gunjavne Darwaja.

Most Beautiful part of this trek is " CHULIVARCHI MAGGIE ".

 * We enjoyed  cooking the maggie on the fort. 

 Carry these things  for Night trek to Rajgad : -

*  A water bottle to carry at least 2 liters of water per head.

*   shawl or bed sheet or mat for night stay in temple.

*  Any torch which can guide you at night clearly.

*  Don't carry heavy cash at the time of trekking.
